Neg Cochran Otto Honk Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 4-26-36 (NEA Service, Inc., 1936). Neg (short for Negley) Cochran assisted the great down-home satirist J.R. Williams on Out Our Way and then took charge of that daily-and-Sundays classic upon Williams' death in 1957. Cochran soloed briefly on this goofy companion strip, Otto Honk, during a leave-of-absence for regular gagman (and future Popeye artist) Bela Zaboly. Panel 2, upper left, contains a ghost-image (rehearsal drawing) of the police chief. Ink over blue pencil on Bristol board. Image area, 23" x 8.25". Pronounced toning and handling wear. Very Good condition. From the Jack Kent Collection.
