    Description

Neal Adams Ben Casey Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 4-12-66 (NEA Syndicate, 1966). Ben Casey, the teevee-spinoff comic, launched prodigy Adams into a revolutionary career as the Orson Welles of midcentury comic books. A vivid cinematic grasp makes the utmost of the limited space -- the newspaper comics were shrinking during the middle 1960s -- and Adams already has developed his signature tactic of packing many emotive faces into a single composition. Ink and Zipatone shading film over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 14.5" x 4.25". Excellent condition.
