    Description

Murphy Anderson Showcase #61 "Beyond the Sinister Barrier!" Part 2 - The Spectre Original Art Group of 10 (DC, 1966). This is only the second Silver Age appearance of DC's Ghostly Guardian of the Golden Age! The chapter opens with a splash page featuring the ghostly guardian fending off an attack of demons. The Spectre seemed to love growing to gigantic proportions, and he does so on Page 9 of this story. Later in the story he travels back to the Big Bang itself, a historical recap (with some references to several World religions), and then grows into a multi-armed giant on the last page! An amazing adventure for DC's Spirit of Vengeance. The pages were created twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Four of the pages have stripped-in text or art corrections. In Excellent condition. From the Murphy Anderson Collection.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
