Murphy Anderson Hawkman #13 Complete 24-Page Story "Quest of the Immortal Queen!" Original Art (DC, 1966). Queen Alvit has set her sights on Hawkman as her king... even if she has to eliminate Hawkwoman to do it! This Silver Age treat has it all... A love triangle, robotic Norse Frost Giants, a Queen riding a winged stallion, mechanical ravens, and an alien attack on Earth in the future. And that's not even all of the wacky weirdness in this story! The pages were crafted in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Some image areas are smaller as some pages left room for house ads. This story was one of the first stories at DC to make the transition from "twice-up scale" artwork down to the "one-and-a-half-up" scale that is the current size ratio today. As such, the art was prepared on large boards that have large blank areas under the image areas. Page 1 has a discolored paste-up stat logo, and a bit of glue residue over the hand-lettered story title. Page 17 has a stripped-in text correction caption box that seems to have been moved from the lower right corner, and patched from a piece from the bottom margin. Other pages have stripped-in text corrections, whiteout art clean ups, and some glue residue stains. The pages are on average in Very Good condition. From the Murphy Anderson Collection.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
