Mort Drucker MAD #226 Complete 10-Page Story "Superduperman II" Original Art (EC, 1981).
From the All Men Are Creating Sequels Dept.: One of the best caricature and parody artists that MAD ever employed was Mort Drucker. And given the competition, that's some high praise. It's too bad the jokes in this crummy magazine were never any good... "Cluck" Kennt? "Lox Looter"? "The Planet Krapton"? It's the irreverent humor that you know and loathe... uh, love, that is... from those fine Usual Gang of Idiots at MAD! These 10 pages are full of great shots of Drucker's wacky take on Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, Gene Hackman, Terence Stamp, and Jackie Cooper. The art was rendered in ink and ink wash over graphite with Zipatone and also some Rubylith overlays for shading. The image area per page is 16" x 22". All text is stat paste-up. The pages have Sotheby's stickers on them from a previous auction. Pages 1-2 are conjoined with production tape. In Excellent condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
