Description

Walt Disney Studios - Original Animation Art Cel and Background for Mickey Mouse Cartoon (Walt Disney, n/a). A beautiful panoramic beach scene is the locale for this great animation cel/long shot background art featuring everyone's favorite mouse, Mickey. We wish we could tell you the name(s) of the artists involved, or even the name of the cartoon this appeared in, as that information has been lost to us. We can tell you that this is the classic "round-ears" Mickey Mouse of the late 1930s, taking a dip in the crystal blue waters on the nitrate cel, possibly from the 1937 short "Hawaiian Holiday". The lush background may or may not be from the same film. At any rate, the two pieces together make a magnificent presentation from the best-loved animation studio in America. The large pan background, rendered in delicate watercolors, measures approximately 27" x 9", and is in fantastic condition, with only a few minor blemishes. The cel overlay is approximately 10" x 9"; it appears to be a little wavy, but with nice color, and no chipping or flaking of the paint. If you love the Mouse, you gotta get him in the house!
