DescriptionSheldon Mayer - Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer Preliminary Sketch Group Original Art (circa 1979). This large group lot features a load of lively pencil on vellum preliminary sketches, most of which were drawn for for Rudolph stories. These sketches are irregularly shaped "scrap" pieces that had been taped together into larger pages and what not. These sketches provide an insight into Sheldon Mayer's meticulous creative process. These vellum pieces have numerous creases, folds and tears, and wear, plus they are "scraps," or fragments, of larger ideas, so the art averages Fair to Good condition. The overall sizes vary from small panels of 3" x 4" to larger pieces of 12" x 15". These sketches range in detail from rough doodles and lay outs to more tightly finished sketches. In short, this lot is a potpourri of doodles from a master cartoonist.
