    Description

Sam Rosen Not Brand Echh #11 Original Lettering for Splash Page (Marvel Comics, 1968). Hand-lettering master Rosen, a little-acknowledged hero of the Marvel bullpen, is front-and-center on this fragmentary page. The art itself is missing, barring narrow marginal portions at left and right. The story had been written as a parody of the 1933 movie King Kong. The piece had a troubled production history, inasmuch as supervising editor Stan Lee and writer Roy Thomas disliked Tom Sutton's artwork and called in Marie Severin to re-draw significant portions. So that's what's absent. Meanwhile, Rosen's lettering really stands out. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". Other than the vacant patch, in Good condition.
