DescriptionReed Crandall - Flash Gordon and Dale Arden Preliminary Artwork Original Art and Prints Group of 3 (c. 1960-70s). This double-sided graphite prelim piece shows Reed Crandall working with a very familiar posing of the characters. It's likely that this was a go-to pose for commission work, and a similar image was used on prints. Although the two original works are unfinished roughs, Flash Gordon's face is fully detailed in both images. He stands 13" tall on the larger side of the 11.5" x 14.5" Bristol board; 11.75" on the reverse side. The board has a corner ding on the top, otherwise it is in Excellent condition. Also included are two larger prints using a version of this same pose. They measure approximately 17" x 22". Each print has a corner ding as well, otherwise they are in Excellent condition also. Note that only the graphite prelim art is original art. The black and white images are the prints. From the Al Williamson Collection.
