Description

Norman Mingo MAD Cover Preliminary Artwork Original Art Group of 5 (EC, 1971-80). Norman Mingo was one of the premier cover artists for EC's MAD Magazine and related publications. This group of five framed pieces features some great preliminary artwork for cover designs, many used on issues of MAD Magazine. It includes the rough design for issue #140 featuring Alfred E. Neuman as General George Patton; issue #174 featuring a caricature of Charles Bronson from Death Wish, and the cover for the 1980 paperback Mad About The Buoy. Also included is a great cover design of King Kong holding Alfred E. Neuman used for the 1973 Son of MAD paperback reprint, and an interesting mash-up design of Napoleon Bonaparte/Alfred E. Neuman/Adolph Hitler used on the 1978 Utterly MAD paperback reprint. All are on thin paper with various stages of wear and distress, all have at least a fold. They are on average Very Good. The largest measures 13.5" x 23", the smallest is 7" x 10.5". All are framed with Plexiglas fronts.
