McDonaldland Playland and Slides Design Original Art Group of 4 (McDonald's/Setmakers, 1980-84). This lot is a unique compilation of four detailed technical drawings of proposed McDonald's Playland and restaurant installations. The first is a tightly rendered graphite drawing of "Ronald's Playground." The proposal shows a variety of elements such as a "Big G Slide," suspension bridge, and a geodesic climber. The overall artwork measures 24.5" x 33.5" and includes notes on suggested measurements, materials, and graphics. It is on 29" x 36" Setmakers-branded vellum, dated June 21, 1980, and signed by the artist, legendary Disney Imagineer and Setmakers Creative Director Wes Cook. A second date of March 6, 1981 appears in the lower right corner. The second drawing is titled "Proposed New Apple Pie Tree" which was a custom designed seating area set around a dimensional version of this McDonaldland character. The graphite drawing shows technical views from top and front angles and offers a choice of animated and non-animated options in its design notes. The art is on 24" x 36" Setmakers-branded vellum and is dated 11/16/1983. The third drawing, titled "New Proposal for Capt. Spiral Slide (Revised)" shows both the fully constructed slide and an assortment of additional elements. Rendered in graphite on 24" x 36" Setmakers-branded vellum that's dated 10/23/84. The fourth piece in this lot is a precursor to the third. It's a Captain Crook Spiral Slide design modification from 6/16/81. Alongside of the graphite rendering are notes on suggested safety modifications. The artwork is on 18" x 24" Setmakers vellum. All pieces show handling and edge wear, and creases; otherwise, condition is Very Good.
