McDonaldland Characters Playland and Restaurant Decor Original Art Group of 4 (McDonald's/Setmakers, c. 1970s/80s). In this lot are three original graphite designs for McDonald's Playland equipment and one design for in-store lighting. The first two drawings are of proposed Playland rides called Saddle Mates. These were molded McDonaldland characters mounted on springs. This pair of drawings show top, side, and front views of a Gremlin Saddle Mate and a Filet-O-Fish Saddle Mate. Neither was ever produced, and an interesting note -- they are each mislabeled as the other. Both measure approximately 12" x 12 " on 16.5" x 17.5" vellum. The third drawing includes three amazing renderings of Gremlins, for the canopy of a Playland carousel. Combined, they measure 13" x 19" on 19" x 24" vellum. The piece is signed by artist Wes Cook, and is dated 7/16/78. Rounding out the lot are rough concept sketches of assorted hamburger lighting fixture designs. The drawing includes hamburger-shaped elements for sconces and a hanging light with notes on color, materials, and sizes. The art measures approximately 13.5" x 21", is signed by Cook, and is dated April 10, 1980. All pieces in this lot show minor handling wear, folds, and creases. Condition is Fine.
