McDonaldland Character Toys Original Art Group of 3 (McDonald's/Setmakers, 1973). McDonald's restaurants' popularity with kids quickly got them into the toy business, and with the advent of the Happy Meal, they became one of the largest toy sellers in the world. This a group of three graphite renderings of very early McDonald's toy concepts. The first is a "Grimace Rolly Polly", shown front and side, that measures 12" x 20". Second is a "Gobblin" marionette, shown front and side, and drawn to scale. The combined art measures approximately 13" x 21". Third is a set of four character pencils featuring Mayor McCheese, a Gobblin, a hamburger, and Captain Crook. It too is drawn at actual size, with the overall artwork measuring 12" x 9.5", and it is dated 10/2/73. All three are rendered in graphite on vellum ranging in size from 19" x 21.5" to 19" x 30", which shows handling wear, creases, and folds. Condition is Fine.
