    Description

Kim Deitch LA Weekly: A Shroud for Waldo Preliminary Original Preliminary Artwork (Voice Media Group, 1989). Originally serialized in LA Weekly magazine, Deitch's epic-scale tale of his signature cat-character was collected in 1992 in a 68-page Fantagraphics edition. These detailed, expressive conceptual pieces (two on one page) demonstrate the artist's creative processes in considerable detail, with marginal comments and ideas and a to-do list of errands and art supplies. Meanwhile in the present day, Deitch has begun serializing A Shroud for Waldo all over again in Facebook installments -- just can't keep a good Waldo down. Ink over graphite on sketchpad paper. Image area, 11" x 13.5". Light pencil-smudging. Excellent condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
