    Description

Kelly Freas Self-Portrait Preliminary Original Art Artwork (c. 1960s). Freas, a leading light in science-fiction and comedy illustration, captures in himself a bemused sense of humor consistent with his many efforts for MAD Magazine and the SF pulps. The large-scale conceptual piece shows a combination of finished-art elements (the face) and rough-sketch figure placement (the folded hands). Acrylics with drybrush effects and vertical pastel strokes on textured earth-tone matte board. Image area, 15" x 20". Barked and crinkled corners. Excellent condition.
