John Romita, Sr. Rune/Silver Surfer #1 Cover Preliminary Artwork Original Art Group of 2 (Marvel, 1995). A cross-over event story between the Marvel Universe and their (then) recently acquired Malibu "Ultraverse" Universe. This book was a "flip-book" with two different covers. This cover was designed by John Romita, Sr., and rendered by John Buscema with finished inks by George Perez. This group contains both the John Romita, Sr. preliminary rough 6.5" x 10" layout pencils, but also the preliminary art to the preliminary art! There is a very small (very rough) graphite layout design on a 4" x 6" post-it note. The characters featured on this cover are the Silver Surfer and Deathurge, being chased by Rune, while the Living Tribunal looms ominously in the background. The larger piece is signed by Romita in the lower margin. They are taped to a regular size sheet of Bristol board and are in Excellent condition.
