DescriptionJohn Romita, Sr. Marvels Comics: Captain America #1 Cover Preliminary Artwork Original Art Group (Marvel, 2000). In 2000, Marvel Comics produced six different one-shot comics that were each supposed to represent comic books as actually published inside the Marvel Universe. This one lists the writer as Rick Jones and the artist as Steve Rogers (Captain America's alter-ego was actually a comic book artists briefly in the Marvel-U). But in reality, this cover by by John Romita, Sr., with a little help from Editor Tom Brevoort. Included are the original materials Brevoort sent to JRSR... a copy of the template for the cover, a costume example for Bucky, and his own (very) preliminary rough layout design. Romita Sr. took this and produced a loose graphite layout and a tight penciled headshot of Cap, both on onionskin paper. They are signed by him as well. The original art measures 6" x 6" and 2.5" x 5". In Excellent condition.
