John Romita Jr. Planet of the Apes #110 Splash Page 1 Man-Thing Preliminary Cover Original Art (Marvel UK, 1976). John Romita Jr.'s first published Marvel art was in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #11 in 1977. It is unclear if he produced the all-new splash page that this issue's Man-Thing story would have required. If so, it would be his earliest published Marvel artwork. But it is evident that he at least produced a rough breakdown for the page. On it, Man-Thing charges through a group, grabbing and carrying figures. JRJR used very loose strokes to layout the scene, work out the placement, and show the action of the figures. Rendered in graphite on Marvel cover layout stock with an image area of 7" x 9.5". The toned page has rippling and creasing, with slight staining and overall wear. In Very Good condition.
