DescriptionHarvey Kurtzman - Mad # 1 Cover Concept Remarque Edition Print, #14/100 REM (Another Rainbow, 1991). In October of 1952, Mad #1 hit the stands. Edited and inspired by Harvey Kurtzman, the comic book was very much a reflection of his sensibilities and sense of humor. For millions, Mad was their first introduction to irony and subversion, and its brand of humor influenced a whole generation of stand-up comedians and other not-so-wide-eyed types who shared Mad's suspicion of the people in charge. This special Remarqued Edition print of Harvey Kurtzman's cover concept painting for Mad #1 is print number 14/100. The print paper size is 10.5" x 10.5", with an image area of 6.5" x 9". It has been signed by Harvey Kurtzman and comes with its Certificate of Authenticity and an 18-page booklet featuring a history of the "Mad-men." The print, the COA, and the booklet are all in Excellent condition.
