Harry Sahle or Carl Burgos (attributed) Human Torch #8 Cover Splash Page 1 Pencil Preliminary Sketch Original Art Group (Marvel, c. 1942). Another Timely mystery. Our consignor notes, "In the late 70's Ron Goulart thought that the Human Torch #8 sketches were by Harry Sahle, as he did the story. But Carl Burgos did the story in the previous issue. Could he have done the sketches even if he didn't do the story?" In any case, Subby and the Torch mix it up in these two animated pencil preliminaries. This lot is a gem of considerable luster, the sort of thing a Timely fan dreams of -- and a "must-buy" for any Golden Age fan. Each of these pieces have an overall size of 8.5" x 11", and aside from overall paper aging, and edge and corner wear, they are in Very Good condition.
