Gary Panter Pee-Wee's Playhouse Show and Toy Design Preliminary Artwork Original Art Group of 16 (1986). Gary Panter, one of the mad geniuses behind the visual look of Pee-Wee's Playhouse, was also being utilized to design toys, playsets, and related images. This group of prelim graphite and ink sketches feature many different set pieces/characters from the beloved surreal series... such as Chairy, Conky 2000, Mr. Window, and others. One piece even bears a drawing of the MTV logo. Almost every piece is either signed or initialed and dated. The biggest is a panoramic graphite drawing on two pieces of conjoined paper for a proposed series of Pee-Wee toys what would form a continuous back wall for a larger Playset. It is stuffed to the gills with characters and pieces from the show. It measures 26" x 11". The smallest are two partial pages of graphite sketches on Bristol board. They measure approximately 9" x 6" each. These are as fun as they are chaotic... just like the TV show. Condition varies as some are folded or have corner/edge wear, however most are in Very Good condition.
