Gary Panter Pee-Wee's Playhouse Preliminary Artwork Original Art Group of 6 (1986). Gary Panter is a the celebrated artist who was chosen to print Pee-Wee's Playhouse to life from his characteristically surreal, kooky, and sometimes kind-of-insane artwork. This fantastic pieces show some of the development ideas (not all used) that went on behind the scenes. Included are a huge 24" x 19" Bristol board with adhesive tape markers laying out the Playhouse floor set. Around the edges it is framed by a multitude of small graphite drawings of various set pieces, components, and characters from the show. Another piece features an inspired duck-like pull-toy in felt marker. There is a felt marker Fireplace that measures 11" x 7". Also included are two pages of marker designs for "Magic Glasses". One of the most unusual pieces (and that's saying a lot) is labeled on the side as "G. Panter's view from Broadcast Arts, Saturday, 6-7-86. It is a street scene... with a meteor. Hey, it's New York... it could happen. Most of these are on 14" x 11" paper unless noted. Some have corner creases and/or stains and tanning. The floor plan has been quarter-folded before. Overall they are in Very Good condition and every piece is signed by Gary Panter in pencil.
