DescriptionFrank Thorne Night of the Burmese Bat! Preliminary Original Art Group of 12 (c. 1970s). Thorne's conceptual study for a proposed Hannibal King vampire-at-large story appears to have gone no further. (No documentation of such a title's having been developed for publication.) Thorne's preliminaries, of course, are as polished as the finished work of many another artist, and these pages boast tight radial construction, detailed grayscale shading, and vivid dot-screen textures. A film noir-styled treatment of King, the living-dead detective who became a key supporting character in Marvel Comics' Tomb of Dracula and its spinoffs. Ink and greyscale watercolors over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 7" x 10". Faint toning. Excellent condition.
