DescriptionFrank Frazetta A Requiem for Sharks Watercolor Preliminary Artwork Original Art (Doubleday, c. 1973). Originally done as a promotional painting for Doubleday's Mystery Book Club, this was Frazetta's original concept for this piece. The final version was quite different, making this a unique look into the artist's mind at the moment of inspiration. Frank says of this work, "The book club stuff was fun: no one told me what to do. They were happy to have me and I was happy for the variety." This prelim was previously published on page 62 in Frazetta Rough Works by Spectrum Fantastic Art Books in 2007. This work is ink and watercolor over graphite on 7.25" x 8.5" paper. Signed in the lower image area. There is light toning, and a small bit of stain on the woman's arm. In Very Good condition.
