Frank Brunner is highly regarded by fans for his comic and fantasy art -- but where he made a name for himself was his work on the Doctor Strange solo series. Heritage was proud to offer Brunner's iconic first cover to this series in November of 2021, and now we bring you the artistic beginnings of that image from Brunner's own hand! Since its creation, Doctor Strange's importance to the Marvel Universe has grown and evolved from years of battling forces on an introspective, external, and even extradimensional scale, He has not only greatly shaped the world of comic books, but he has also been a defining presence and influence in the MCU, most recently appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home. But the Eye of Agamotto remains open as he is set to return in the heavily anticipated sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in May 2022! Don't pass up this opportunity to own a rare piece of Marvel/Doctor Strange behind the scenes history many people never get to see. The sketch was created in pure graphite on vellum with an image area of 10" x 13". The vellum is toned, horizontally creased/folded, with some spot staining, smudging, and handling wear.
