Description
Emsh (Edmund Emshwiller) The Defiant Agents Cover Preliminary Original Art Group (c. 1963). Offered here are two hand-painted alternate scene cover preliminaries for Andre Norton's novel (Ace F-183), created by the hall-of-fame sci-fi artist, Emsh. Set in the near future, the US finds itself in a race against the Russians to use alien technology taken from crashed UFOs to travel to planets outside Earth's solar system. The US government experiments on Apache volunteers to adapt them to live as their ancestors did. Each is painted in gouache on board, with an overall size of 8.25" x 10".
