Description

Edgar Church U.S. Marchel Steve Dimond (sic) Preliminary Comics-Panel Design Original Art (c. 1940s). Church, a successful advertising artist, aspired to crack the comic-book market. But his studio in Denver demanded his attention -- and the New York-based comic-book industry was half a continent away. Not much chance for a distant freelancer, in a day of no instant electronic communications. So Church stuck with the ad-man jobs and dreamed of comics that he might create, if given half a chance. This rehearsal for a Western comic suggests that Church could have made the grade. (Church also assembled a comic-book archive that became the legendary Mile High Collection.) Graphite on bond stationery, measuring 8" x 11". Excellent condition.
