DescriptionCarl Barks Trail of the Forty Thieves Preliminary Painting Sketch (#P-7) Original Art (c. 1980). Carl Barks created this idea sketch for a painting tentatively titled Trail of the Forty Thieves which, unfortunately, he later abandoned. A typed note attached to the back reads: "A subject begun in an effort to put the ducks in the mysterious Arabian desert. Somehow the mirage of ancient Baghdad never quite became the diaphanous, shimmering illusion I wanted to portray." This preliminary sketch (Code #P-7) was one of several full color developmental oil sketches made by Barks (this is painted on masonite). The art has an image area of 10" x 12.5" and it is in Excellent condition. Signed by Barks at the lower right.
