Captain Crook Concept/Design Original Art and Print Group of 3 (McDonald's/Setmakers, c. 1970s-80s). Captain Crook was one of the original McDonaldland characters and, aside from his love of Filet-O-Fish, he was the only one who could interpret what the Hamburglar said. This lot is a pair of original graphite sculpture designs and one sepia print of this enduring character. The drawings were created as proposed concepts for a Captain Crook tabletop statue produced by Setmakers for McDonald's restaurants. The first of the two features the Captain posed, peering through his telescope in a front, side, and rear view. Each of the three images stands 9" tall on a single sheet. The second drawing is similar to the first, but he is posed, with one hand on a ship's wheel, and one foot raised to rest on the gunwale of his boat. The third piece in the lot is a sepia print of the sculpting detail of Captain Crook's head, which sat atop his spiral slide in McDonald's Playlands. The print shows views of the Captain's head from front, side, and back, plus the slide that it sits atop, and has additional design notes added in ink. All three pieces are on 19" x 24" vellum and show handling and edge wear. Condition is Very Good.
