Description

Bill Sienkiewicz Dark Knight III: The Master Race #8 Variant Cover Preliminary Original Art (DC, 2017). Batman on horseback is an image synonymous with Frank Miller's Dark Knight series, and it is a motif that Bill Sienkiewicz has executed masterfully here with this variant cover prelim. While the published cover and prelim are very similar in terms of composition, the most notable difference is that in the finished cover, Sienkiewicz chose to have Batman's face looking down, concealing most of his facial features. That makes this detailed prelim the only place you can appreciate the fine detail the artist put into Batman's face -- and all the rest of the intricate linework. For a prelim, this is a truly stunning piece of art packed with detail. Crafted in ink, marker, and white paint over graphite on 12" x 17" art paper. There is some creasing and smudging from handling wear. Signed in the lower right. In Excellent condition.
