Bernie Wrightson Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's Frankenstein Unused Frontispiece Illustration...
Description
Bernie Wrightson Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's Frankenstein Unused Frontispiece Illustration Preliminary Original Art (Marvel, c. 1976). An unused yet fully finished study for Wrightson's towering masterpiece: his illustrated adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. First published by Marvel in 1983, Wrightson's Frankenstein is widely regarded as his magnum opus, a work where every shadow, flourish, and etched line feels carved from the Gothic heart of the novel. This frontispiece preliminary captures classic Wrightson elements: gleaming glassware, a brooding skull, and the stark silhouettes of the mad doctor and his creation. A haunting alternate vision from the project that defined a legend, created in pen ink on art paper with a matted image area of 7" x 9.25", Plexiglas-front framed to 19" x 24". Slight toning, with dust shadow at the top, crease across the center, ink spotting, and marginal test marks. Presents in Very Good condition.More information about Bernie Wrightson.
