Description

Alex Ross Marvels #4 Cover Preliminary Original Art (Marvel, 1994). Alex Ross' Marvels is a landmark series within the modern Marvel mythos, one that took the comics world by storm thanks to Ross' hyper-realistic style -- a welcome wake-up call that redefined how superhero stories could look. The cover preliminary presented here is a perfect snapshot of Ross' process, closely matching the published cover of Issue #4 and capturing the forever-ingénue Gwen Stacy in the grip of her would-be murderer, the Green Goblin. Both figures appear within one of the eye lenses of Spider-Man's mask, creating a weighted composition that evokes one of Spider-Man's most formative moments. Pure graphite on tracing paper with a near edge-to-edge image area of 9" x 12". Lightly toned, with some creasing and handling wear. Signed and in Very Good condition.
