Alex Ross Kingdom Come Novel Cover Preliminary Artwork Original Art (DC, 1998). To say that Alex Ross is a fan-favorite painter is an understatement. The Comic Buyer's Guide had to retire their annual CBG Fan Award for "Favorite Painter" because Alex Ross had won it so many times. This lot contains three versions of preliminary art for the novelization of the smash hit Kingdom Come Elseworlds series, which sported amazing cover paintings by Ross as well. With minor alterations, the third image was used, and the wrap-around back cover image used the image of Norman McCay from the first attempt. They are produced in ink over graphite on two pieces of paper, each with an image area of 4" x 6". Both pieces of paper are signed by Ross. It is handsomely matted with a printed cover flat of the printed novel. There is a small slit in the printed cover flat. The piece is Plexiglas front framed to 23.5" x 26.5"; however, the frame has corner wear and nicks in the outside edges. The artwork is in Excellent condition.
