Description
Alex Horley - Vampirella Illustration Preliminary Original Art (undated). Frank Frazetta's shadow falls unmistakably across this prelim of the Daughter of Drakulon, created in preparation for a finished painting (featured in our current Signature auction). Vampirella poised before a full moon instantly calls back to the iconic Vampirella #1 cover, while the lizard-like creature lurking behind her channels the ferocious, hyper-detailed beasts Frazetta loved to unleash on canvas. The sheet's verso carries a second study: a seated, winged Vampirella framed by the moon. Rendered in graphite on paper with an image area of 7" x 9" for the signed prelim on the front, and 7" x 8" for the prelim sketch on the back. Signed by Horley in the lower right image area.
