Description
Al Jaffee MAD #329 "Everything You Ever Need to Know About Caning" Preliminaries Original Art Group of 7 (EC, 1994). Leave it to Jaffee to treat a global headline like a public-service announcement no one in their right mind would ever want. In the wake of Michael Fay's 1994 caning sentence in Singapore, he dreamed up the topical MAD feature "Everything You Ever Need to Know About Caning," a cheerfully appalling guide to painful punishment in case any bright American lawmakers got similar ideas. Included here are prelims for that feature, along with a prelim for another unidentified MAD piece built around a survey of readers' feelings on especially ridiculous commercials. Rendered in color pencil on onion skin affixed to the back of MAD Bristol board, with approximate overall image areas of 16" x 11" and 19.5" x 12.5". There are two additional loose sketches on sheets of onion skin. The unrelated prelim is also rendered in color pencil on onion skin taped to Bristol board with text paste-ups, for an overall image area of 16" x 12". Light toning, some rippling/waviness from the adhesive, and minor handling wear. Overall, in Very Good condition.More Information: EDIT: Typo corrected.
