    Description

Milton Caniff Terry and the Pirates Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-12-35 (Chicago Tribune-N.Y. News Syndicate, 1935). From a peak period for Caniff, when Noel Sickles was assisting to lend depth to Caniff's bedrock artwork. An expert use of black shadows, blue wash to signify shading, and an ominous overall mood, centered upon a menacing figure in contrast to heroic Pat Ryan and Terry Lee. Ink and shading wash on Bristol board. Image area, 20" x 5.5". Very Good condition, with overall moderate toning.
