Mike Grell Starslayer #1 Complete 25 Page Story "The Legend of Starslayer" Original Art (Pacific Comics, 1982). Starslayer was a pivotal book in the days of the early 1980s alternative comics. It was not only a high-water mark for Space Opera style stories, and one of Mike Grell's most defining works, it would also launch the Rocketeer, Grimjack, and Groo from backup stories into their own books. This complete first issue features four different breathtaking two-page spreads in just 25 pages of story. It's a stunner. The lot also comes with a signed two-page info-sheet explaining the concept to retailers to entice them to order the new untried title. The pages are ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15" (or 21" x 15" combined). Text is paste-up on an acetate overlay, some of which has slipped down. The last page of the story has a large photostat paste-up for the entire image area. Slight tanning and edge/corner wear. Some pages have corners and top edges trimmed, but overall these over-30-year-old pages are still in Very Good condition. See all of them at
