    Description

Matt Baker Flamingo Daily Comic Strip/Panel Page Original Art (Universal Phoenix Features, 1952). A gem from a master of Good Girl art: Baker, writer Ruth Ann Roche, and studio boss S.M. "Jerry" Iger pitched Flamingo (about a heroic Gypsy dancer) as a newspaper strip but hedged their bets by generating pages in comic-book format. The strip scored very few daily papers, but the page-layout version saw print many years later in Pacific Comics' Jerry Iger's Famous Features. Baker's strong radial composition is a wonder to behold. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 13" x 18". Light toning. Excellent condition. From the Ethan Roberts Estate Collection.
