Marie Severin and Herb Trimpe Strange Tales #157 Complete 10-Page Story "The End of the Ancient One!" Doctor Strange Original Art (Marvel, 1967). First appearance of the Living Tribunal! Two splash pages and big bold panels make this a fantastic group of pages. This was Chapter 11 of the 22-part on-going story arc, and it features several things that make it an exciting chapter of the story... the seeming death of the Ancient One, a fierce and brutal battle with Zom, and the destruction of Doctor Strange's Cloak of Levitation. But first and foremost would be the first appearance of the cosmic being known as the Living Tribunal. Zom's hands are manacled in "Links of Living Bondage" in the story, and Doctor Strange would endure a similar fate when he invokes the power of Zom during World War Hulk #3. Truly impressive pages crafted twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". The header/banner paste-up on Page 1 is missing, leaving glue residue there. There are several whiteout art corrections and even a couple of paste-up original art corrections throughout the story. Some pages have minor residue in the image area. The boards are toned and in overall Very Good condition.Auction Info
