Description
Lee Elias Witches Tales #13 Complete 7-Page Pre-Code Horror Story "Elixir of Evil!" Original Art (Harvey Comics, 1952). Sidelined in his prime by the censorship purge that led to the repressive Comics Code in 1954, Elias would prove resurgent as a science-fiction and superhero artist on the daily Beyond Mars and DC Comics' Green Arrow series. That earlier period of horror-comics prominence is crystallized in "Elixir of Evil," a powerful takeoff on a Jekyll-and-Hyde motif (Harvey's horror titles gave EC Comics some fierce competition during the early 1950s). Forceful draftsmanship and emphatic inking at a large-scale 12" x 18" on smooth-finish Bristol board. Excellent condition.Auction Info
