Kurt Schaffenberger Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #48 Cover Original Art (DC, 1964). Here's a real scarcity -- a "twice-up" DC cover from 1963. To put things in perspective, this is only the third DC cover from that year that we've offered! Lois Lane gets more than she bargained for when she travels to the fabled past to re-live the life of Cinderella -- and Superman seems to be enjoying her struggle -- perhaps a little too much. Kurt Schaffenberger's wacky cover scene is a prime example of the offbeat "cover hooks" that editor Mort Weisinger invented to boost the sales of all of his Superman titles. This piece has an image area of 12.5" x 18.5", and aside from a missing word balloon at the upper left, a missing issue number stat, and some overall paper aging, the art is in Very Good condition. Kurt Schaffenberger inscribed and signed the piece at the upper left. A copy of the comic book is included in this lot.
