Jungle Jo #4 and Terrors of the Jungle #21 Complete 9-Page Story "Tangi in the Buried City" Original Art (Fox Comics and Star Publications, 1950-52). Controversial publisher Victor Fox had prior claim on this unattributed gem -- but the collapse of Fox's Jungle Jo magazine left a completed next issue in limbo, its contents orphaned. Star Publications' editor, L.B. Cole, stepped in, assuring a berth for the tale of terrors and tortures in a lost outpost of ancient Egypt. The set-up and characters (typical of Fox) bear a striking resemblance to Fiction House's long-running Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, but the Sheena-like character, Tangi, has ample charms or her own. Though undocumented as to credits, portions of the art bear a resemblance to the early work of Carmine Infantino, particularly in the postures. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 19". Moderate toning. Some paste-down areas of lettering have loosened. Very Good condition.
