    Description

Johnny Craig Tales from the Crypt #20 Cover Original Art (EC, 1950). A fantastically ominous pre-Code cover that is subtle, but has all the menacing makings of a real chiller, featuring Johnny Craig's cryptic and heart-stopping ability to create mounting suspense! A slow, meticulous craftsman in a career that spanned four decades, Craig's relatively small body of work has been influential and well-remembered -- a testimony to his skill. His art is highly coveted by collectors of the macabre, and this is the first time that Heritage has offered this classic EC stunner of a cover! A Crypt-Keeper inset is also pictured. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with a twice-up scale matted image area of 13" x 18". Top title and credits text is printed stat paste-up with some discoloring and adhesive residue, the text bubble is a paste-up with adhesive residue, and the board has some toning, with edge and handling wear. Signed in lower right and in Very Good condition.
