John Romita Sr. The Superhero Women Trade Paperback Preliminary Cover Original Art (Simon and Schuster, 1977). Some of the most powerful and dynamic women of the Marvel Universe appear together on this cover image... Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers, now Captain Marvel), Hela, Black Widow, Red Sonja, The Invisible Woman, the Wasp, and Medusa of the Inhumans! A titanic team-up for the cover of this reprint collection that presented a separate story featuring each woman in turn. The final cover art was painted, based on this initial design created in ink over blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 14.25". There is slight toning, a bit of production oil stain and spot stains, and light handling wear. In Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
