John Romita Sr. Amazing Spider-Man #55 Cover Doctor Octopus Original Art (Marvel, 1967). Doc Ock has his eyes on Spider-Man on this bold and iconic cover. Less than two years previously, John Romita Sr. had taken over the art chores on this title and really made it his own. Clever attention to detail caused Marvel to produce this cover with stats of Spider-Man in Ock's goggles. This assured the images would match exactly. The rest of the in-your-face image area is original art created twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board, cut and affixed to the larger Bristol board for a total image area of 13.25" x 20.25". The corner box, issue/price, logo, and CCA stamp are all original paste-up stats. The "Doc Ock Wins!" banner at the bottom are original stat pieces as well. There is some glue residue near the paste-ups, and there are also some minor edge rips and dings on the backing bristol board.
