John Buscema Conan the Barbarian Annual #7 Unused Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1982). Extremely similar to the final cover, this seems most likely a "first attempt", although it us unclear why it was not used. This version is every bit as dynamic, powerful, and exciting at the published cover. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10.5" x 15". There is a recreation logo/header on a flip-up acetate section at the top. The original art has a horizontal crease through the middle, and pinholes in the top. The reverse side of the art hides a wonderful secret... eight rough graphite images, with most partially inked by John Buscema himself! A keen look behind the curtain at his artistic genius. The acetate overlay is held on with tape on the reverse side, which does run across some of the figure drawings. The cover is in Very Good condition with high eye-appeal.
