DescriptionJohn Alden Twachtman "Iroquois Indians" Ghost Town Painting (1921). Here is an interesting look into the Ghost Town Western art collection of Walter Knott. This painting is by John Alden Twachtman, the son of noted American Impressionist painter John Henry Twachtman. John Alden was a colonel in the 26th Division of the US Army's 103rd Field Artillery, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal and Distinguished Service Cross. Very little is known about his paintings and is rare for one to come to market. A clue may be on the back of the painting, where "purchased from the 1930s Rockefeller Estate Sale" is written in pencil. This is a large, impressive painting measuring 78" x 62", signed and dated by the artist. Framed, with minor handing and surface wear. Very Good condition.
