Joe Kubert The Brave and the Bold #43 Hawkman Story "The Masked Marauders of Earth!" Page 18 Original Art (DC, 1962). Joe Kubert's Silver Age Hawkman tryout series in The Brave and the Bold #34-36 was so popular with readers, that a second three-issue series was launched with issue #42. Here's a page from issue two of that second series, and what an exciting page it is, as Hawkman must risk his own life to save Hawkgirl during an intense air battle with several deadly Manhawks. The art is in ink over blue pencil on Bristol board, with an approximate image area measuring 13.25" x 18". There are a few scattered light brown stain spots in the lower right, and some minor handling wear; overall condition is Very Good. A name stamp on the back reveals this page was once owned by "superfan" Jerry Bails.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
