Jimmy Hatlo They'll Do It Every Time Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 7-3-36 (King Features Syndicate, 1936). A grand installment of Hatlo's signature feature: They'll Do It Every Time comments sarcastically upon human foibles and frailties, and this one hits the mark with a vengeance as the office smart-alecks take a razz at their self-important boss. This one acknowledges a reader ("R.M.P.") who had suggested the gag: By inviting ideas from his audience, Hatlo was practicing social-media techniques long before there was such a term as social media. Later on, he coined the phrase "a tip of the Hatlo Hat" as a thank-you to the readers. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12.5" x 9.25", matted and framed to 16.5" x 13.5. Moderate age-toning. Light scuffing on frame. Excellent condition.
