Jay Disbrow, Matt Baker, Alex Blum, and Others Sheena, Queen of the Jungle #18 Re-formatted Original Art Panel Page from Jumbo Comics #71 (Fiction House Publ., 1945-52). The story had originated as "The Serpent-God Speaks" in Jumbo #71, starring magazine for Sheena, Fiction House's femme Tarzan -- one of the earliest costumed lady-heroes. Baker, the gold-standard glamour-gal artist, had drawn the female figures as part of the Iger Studio's assembly-line process. This page marks the story's reappearance (shortened and rewritten) in the final issue of the spinoff title, Sheena, Queen of the Jungle. Disbrow, a newcomer to the studio, assumed the task of cutting and pasting and re-drawing portions to fit a reduced page-count. A conspicuous alteration is Sheena's less revealing costume. The patchwork construction contains Tiers 1-2 of the original Page 10, supplemented with a third tier (below) from another story. The revamp was published as "Secret of the Snake Queen." Ink over graphite on Bristol board, mounted to a backing sheet. Image area, 12" x 18". Deeply age-toned, with conspicuous adhesive seams, tipped-in re-lettering, and white-paint retouching. Good condition.
